Not only did last night's storm bring an untimely end to the bike-in movie (pictured) (it started to pour just as the movie was set to start), but it also seems to have set back the repair work on the interim CCT.
DPWT had not begun work on the most important part of the storm drain system, the large drain behind the Claridge House swimming pool near the Lyttonsville Place overpass. Since that drain had not been rebuilt, that drain plugged, as usual. Storm water overflowed onto the trail to turn it into a storm water drainage ditch, as usual. Most of the new work was undone - most of the new edge timbers have been undercut and much of the new crushed stone surface material has been badly eroded.
Fixing the trail is pointless if the cause of the erosion (the storm drain) isn't fixed first.
