Sticks and puddles

There is a ton of debris all along the trail, and puddles in all the places you'd expect.  RCP hasn't gone over the banks yet by the bridge north of P St, though.

And once you get out of the park that wind is no joke. 

100% ice free to Tilden

Even the dirty water ice going uphill on Tilden toward CT Ave is gone.  Puddles in the usual places, but overall the trail in best shape since the storm.

99.44 % ice free

What little ice there is on the trail south of Cathedral will probably melt off by late morning. 

Zoo path open

I left work early today so I was riding near the zoo around 2:30 PM and the path was open.  I've been riding by after dawn and before dusk over the last couple weeks and the path has been closed, so I'm not sure what is going on.

I've noticed and a couple riders have reported the path thru the zoo (instead of the tunnel) has been closed all the time lately.

Other than some patches of ice before/on/after the bridges, the trail is in very good shape up to Tilden.  Heading up from the park on Tilden there is still a lot of ice, however.

NPS must have plowed the section of the trail south of Cathedral that was iced over b/c the trail was in very good shape this morning.  Still icy patches here and there, but overall it's as good as it has been since the storm.

D.C. police were called to Rock Creek Park near the parkway and Pennsylvania Avenue about 7:20 a.m. Thursday after Pepco crews working on an electrical fire discovered a man's body near the creek.

Officials were unable to offer much detail but said it did not look as though the body was connected to the fire. The man, said to be in his 30s, was found about 100 yards from the site of the fire, which was under the bridge at Pennsylvania and 26th Street NW, police said.

Trails are snow covered some limited pavement in spots. Roads are bare to pavement but wet with lots of chemicals.

rode home tonight on trail-entered at PA Ave and rode all the way to Candy Cane city.  It was cold, but trail is in fine shape!  Yes, there are icy patches- but they were easy to spot and ride around.    A bigger problem than the ice, IMHO, would be not dressing warmly enough.  mw
