Construction and road work on Rock Creek Parkway from P Street down to Virginia Avenue in Northwest still has a ways to go before it's complete.
"There is resurfacing going on, draining work, curb replacement and a widening of the pedestrian and bike trail on the Georgetown side of the roadway," says Bill Line, spokesperson with the National Park Service. The parking lot at Thompson's Boat Center also is being repaved.
The work isn't expected to wrap up until spring 2008.
The road work started in April. Right now construction crews are working 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturdays. If night work is required, they are doing that between 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Weekend work hours are from 7:00 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
The P Street exit ramp off Rock Creek also is going through some rehabilitation. Right now drivers can still access Rock Creek Parkway from P Street, but they cannot get off the P Street exit from the Parkway. That work is expected to reverse itself, once work on the ramp hits the halfway point.
