From DDOT
The next meeting of the DC Bicycle Advisory Council meeting will be Wednesday, March 5 from 6:00 to 8:00pm in room 1117 of One Judiciary Square (441 4th Street, NW).
Some of the items on the agenda will be:
- 2010 Campaign. Rails to Trails Conservancy effort to fund several $50 million bike/ped programs in lucky cities in the next federal transportation bill (we'd like to be one of them!).
- 2008 bike lane plans. DDOT will distribute a draft list, but I'm told the facilities committee will work on it in more detail at their next meeting.
- Union Station Bike Station. Since the last meeting, the feds have approved the additional money for the $4 million project, so we should be able to start construction in the spring.
- 14th Street Bridge EIS. An Environmental Impact Statement is underway for the possible replacement of the 14th Street Bridge. DDOT staff and BAC members attended a recent meeting on the issue. This issue also may be taken up in more detail by the facilities committee.
- SmartbikeDC. We are busy nailing down rack locations, building the web site, and developing a marketing plan. At this point it looks like we will be ready to launch the program in early April.
did you go?

It's going on as I type. Sadly, I'm still at work, so I won't make it. If you go and take notes, I'd gladly post them.
